Women's Day
|
Whether they meet at Lafayette Market for lunch or the Rose Kneale Room at church, this faithful group meets monthly for fellowship and support. Their meetings begin and end with prayer and they always find time for bible reflection at the start of their agenda. The men host coffee hour once a month and also communicate and support a variety of activities within the parish. Frequently, the group has speakers to address topics of interest.

Conjure an image of almost fifty women between the ages of 28 and 90 years, all clad in casual attire. Some are costumed in sun hats and cool shades while others sport tennis shoes, sea shell jewelry, and aloha shirts. Now picture them laughing as they slap the walls with fly swatters, giggling as they dance raucously with boas, or swaying gently as they pray reverently.
And that only begins to describe All Saints’ fifth annual Women’s Day. For the women who would be preparing the free weekly community breakfast or sorting and selling clothing at the Thrift Shop or otherwise toiling around and for the church, one Saturday in May has become a well-deserved day of play. While the parish men step up to cover the obligations of the multiple ministries, the women forge new bonds and express God’s love through joyful activities. All Saints' women are pampered with food and fun and friendship. All women of the church are invited to the event that is free of charge yet valuable beyond measure. Everyone, except perhaps the All Saints' men, eagerly anticipate the next installment of a most rejuvenating legacy—Women’s Day. |
